Post o' the month!
That's what it seems I've been reduced to lately. Sorry bout that! It's not lack of time nor lack of whatever-just lack of motivation I suppose. Mom will be happy to hear that I actually did something 'Japanese' the other weekend. Saturday evening after work I came home and then with Jared and his 'friend' we went to the station to go to the phone store and meet Fumiko. Then we decided that we would have okonomiyaki. It's basically a big pancake with meat and cabbage and covered in mayonaise and fish...stuff.
It was a great time. We went to Seiyu and I bought a huge griddle for about $40 and we picked up some fireworks as well. Cooking the okonomiyaki was great fun. For the first 'pancake' the Japanese folks did their stuff and then the second time it was the North Americans' turn. The best part is trying to flip it because all the pressure is on you. Then after we had okonomiyaki, the Japanese cooked us yakisoba and then after that (about 10pm) we headed to the local park with an entire bag full of fireworks. We had all sorts of fun and didn't lose any fingers. I went to the 100yen store and bought 1000 yen more worth of fireworks so hopefully when this darn rainy season stops!
Finally here's a video of the fish stuff on top of the okonomiyaki. You can see how the heat makes the flakes move around as if it's alive.
